There are a variety of groups which operate at Levin Uniting Church.

Pastoral Care

We have a small team of people who visit in the parish,we are always glad to add to this number.

If you or a family member would like a visit please contact Elizabeth in the office and she will arrange this. Our ministers visit Palmerston Nth and Horowhenua hospitals regularly.   We do ask friends and family to make us aware of changes in the lives of our congregation such as moving into a Rest home or going into hospital,or any other change that we need to be aware of.

The Church is pleased to share our facilities with some community groups and we encourage people to support these if they interest.

Most Monday mornings

Groups represented in the Church range from people who keep contact with others to traditional Women’s organisations and Social activities. One of the strongest outreaches to people who no longer come to church is from the team who faithfully deliver the Monthly Communiqué.  Recent editions of Communiqué can be read by clicking the links on the Publication’s tab of this site.  Following the morning service a team of helpers happily serve morning tea to those who choose to linger and enjoy a chat.   Since we began worship in the Hall complex there has been more of the congregation now staying on for a ‘ cuppa’.  With not having to transition around from the front Church Building means we are socialising more and the atmosphere seems more convivial.    The assistance from the Women’s Fellowship who supply of Tea, coffee, Sugar & biscuits  is appreciated.  We are reminded  “For I was hungry & thirsty & you gave me food & drink — I was a stranger & you welcomed me ”   Please watch out for new faces & visitors.

Our Worship Team has met to organise Church Services and noted Music contains a good mix of new and customary content…. Its thought the Worship Centre layout needs some reflection.    There has been some discussion around how we might better engage Children and involve Youth in Services…   It was thought the Talents Harvest Service was useful and will be repeated with some more promotion…  We want to encourage a more full and engaging Worship experience in which our purpose is to glorify, honour, praise, exalt, and please God.  Since God is the object of our worship, He and He alone has the right to determine how we are to worship Him. We read in Jeremiah 10:23, “O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself, it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.”     Worship is a time when we pay deep, sincere, awesome respect, love, and fear to the one who created us. Worship should cause us to reflect on the majesty and graciousness of God and Christ, contrasted to our own unworthiness.   Our singing, praying, studying His word, giving, and communion are designed by God to bring us closer to Him and to cause us to think more like He thinks, thus becoming more like Him. James 4:8 tells us to, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”  The ‘Worship Committee’ wants to encourage Worship in which individuals know they have been in God’s presence.
